Foam Pigs are used to remove dust or fluids from all pipe materials. They are generally pushed through a pipe using air or water pressure, although they can be supplied with a facility to allow them to be pulled through a pipe.
Foam Pigs are flexible and bi-directional. They will negotiate all conventional pipeline fittings such as bends, valves and reduced diameter branch connections. They will also easily pass through greatly reduced pipe diameters and partial obstructions.
Other uses include line drying and product separation. Models can also be manufactured to allow for customised features such as towing ropes or transmitter housings.
The range of Foam Pigs are manufactured from a specially selected grade of foam that has good wear resistance and is designed to maintain an effective seal. Two main types are available.
Sealed end pig
These Foam Pigs are cylindrically shaped and incorporate an impermeable disc at one end which is bonded to the foam.
This product, which by the virtue of the sealed end is non porous, is designed for the more arduous applications such as pipe cleaning and drying. It is available in the size range 2″ (50mm) to 42″ (1050mm).
Swabbing pig
These Foam Pigs in the form of a cylinder are primarily used for the swabbing of water mains. They are available in all sizes up to 42″ (1050mm).
Major features
Other styles and foam densities can be supplied. These are used for cleaning and swabbing applications as well as long runs in cross country pipelines.
